Christine Gifis

Christine Gifis, a graduate of Skidmore College (go T-breads!) with her master’s in Educational Leadership from New York University, is an experienced middle school teacher and administrator.
Christine has worn many hats in her educational career such as the Assistant Dean of Students, Equity and Inclusion Co-Coordinator, Seventh Grade Lead Teacher, and a Spanish teacher. But, she has always been committed to the middle school age group and their families. She is most passionate about providing her students with opportunities to learn compassion and acceptance in and outside of the classroom.
In addition to her roles as a teacher and a dean, Christine believes in the power and importance of social justice and equity work with students. In her most recent school, she founded a lunchtime conversation club that served as a safe space for courageous seventh and eighth-grade students, as well as teachers, to explore issues of diversity, equity, identity, and allyship.
Christine has facilitated many brave conversations with students as well as providing professional development for faculty and staff on a range of topics dealing with equity and inclusion. She continues to work with her community to celebrate what makes each of us unique, while also encouraging one another to fully comprehend privilege and its effect on society.
Christine is a teacher and leader at heart, dedicated to enriching her students’ lives, but also a student committed to a life of learning.
Christine is also mom to 16 month old, George, and wife to her husband, Mike. She loves spending time with her little family, going to the beach, running, dancing, and being outside!
